'Coyoye vs. Acme' director to take on 'Hex' for the 20th century

Two players at Espaço Geek teamed up to put a Hexadecimal on 20th Century Studios.

Dave Green, the director behind Infamous Coyote vs. Acme, and Bendavid Grabinski, the creator of the Netflix animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, sold a field titled Hexadecimal to the Walt Disney Studios division.

Green is attached to the right, while Grabinski will write the script.

Andrew Lazar will produce the feature, with Mal Smith serving as co-producer. Grabinski will serve as executive producer.

The details are kept under the traveler's hat, but they imply black magic coming to an unusual city.

Knowing this creative team's previous work, expect a subversive shift in the material.

20th reunion There's a squad replacement behind Mike and Nick and Alice A unique buddy action movie with a time travel element. The film, written and directed by Grabinski and now in publishing, is set to debut next year.

Grabinski's Scott Pilgrim anime series reworked the 2010 Scott Pilgrim vs. the World film to offer a fresh perspective on Bryan Lee O'Malley's original graphic novel, generating critical acclaim and a strong following. It also spawned a revival of the teen horror anthology series Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Meanwhile, Green directed 2016's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows , but in recent years has become known for the Brouhaha caused by the Coyote vs. Acme film.

Warner Bros. made the live-action hybrid, starring John Cena and Lana Condor, but then filed for tax purposes in 2023 after the company's merger with Discovery. The film has become a lyrical account of the oppressed treatment of Hollywood's creative class, with many names speaking out in support of the film and its cowardly fate.

Grabinski was one of Green's staunchest supporters during the trial and helped shape public perception, pushing the notion that he was dropped due to quality issues.

Coyote vs. Acme is a great movie,” Grabinski posted on social media shortly after Warners scrapped the film. “The best of its kind since [ Who Framed ] Roger Rabbit … The leads are super nice. It’s beautifully shot. The animation is great. The ending makes everyone cry. I thought the purpose of this business was to make hit movies.”

Coyote vs. Acme was eventually picked up for theatrical release by Ketchup Entertainment, which will now open the film in August 2026.

Green is represented by Uta, Kaplan/Perrone, and Hirsch Wallerstein. Grabinski is represented by CAA and Kaplan/Perrone.
