At least eight people have died and four are missing since late Saturday after a campsite flooded in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China.
At around 10 p.m. local time, a "sudden" flooding of the Urad Rear Banner River in the city of Byannur reached the campsite, leaving 13 people missing, according to Chinese authorities quoted by the Xinhua news agency.
Following search and rescue efforts throughout the night, the morning death toll was eight people dead, four missing, and one camper rescued.
Emergency services continue to carry out work to find the missing.
In Hainan province, in the south of the country, fishermen had to delay their outings to sea this Saturday after the government temporarily restricted them due to a tropical storm.
At least 44 people died last July in the Chinese capital, Beijing, mostly in areas such as Miyun and Yanqing, due to another storm of torrential rains that caused evacuations, destruction, and power outages.
