However, Charlie Day and Jennifer Aniston's characters used to be at odds in the Horrid Heads films, both are aligned with wanting a third film in the R-rated comedy franchise.

After Aniston recently revealed that she wants to revisit the project, the It 's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor told The Hollywood Reporter that he, too, "would absolutely be up for another ' Horrific Heads ' movie.

Additionally, speaking with Thr at a recent New York screening of her latest film, Honey, No! , now in theaters, Day said that “there have been some conversations about it with some people involved in front of and behind the camera,” suggesting that her and Aniston’s desire to return to the project might be more than idle speculation.

He added: "Let's see, I hope there's an appetite for the study."

Day referenced the new Naked Gun film to express support for theatrical comedies.

«I just saw The Naked Gun and it was so much fun to be in a theater with a comedy with a capital 'c.'»

"I'd love to do a third one," he said of the Horrid Heads series. "Fortunately, we can do that."

In June, Aniston told People that Horrid Heads is the project she'd be most interested in revisiting.

"Jason Bateman and I were talking about it, and Charlie Day is also talking a lot about it," Aniston said of the franchise. "So this is something we found super fun."

She added: "The characters are fun, and we need comedy. Personally, I think comedy is a necessity. This is one where we'd have a really fun time, I think, going back and seeing where these crazy cats are today."

Aniston also looked back on the franchise in a recent video interview with Vanity Fair for their "Retell" series, recalling how she wrestled with her character's dark threads .

«I wanted [my character] to have a different take. The studio's argument, and I'm sorry to call them out, was, 'We're just afraid he doesn't look like you.' And I said, 'This is the point!' I still think it might look a little like me. But I'm happy I fought for it and stuck to my guns.»

The two films, released in 2011 and 2014, Aniston said, helped shed her image as a girl next door.

"I've always been, more or less, seen as a girl next door, you know, admission," she said. "It was really fun to play someone like that, because it's so far from everything I am. And I think that's what the director liked—that's not what you would expect from this girl. That's the fun. I think that's what made it more exciting for me, obviously."

First Horrid Heads The film, released in the summer of 2011, was directed by Seth Gordon from a script by Michael Markowitz, John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein and, in addition to Aniston, Day, and Bateman, starred Jason Sudeikis, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, and Jamie Foxx. The film follows three friends (Day, Bateman, and Sudeikis) who plot to kill their terrible bosses. The original grossed nearly $210 million worldwide on a $35 million budget.

The 2014 Sequel , directed by Sean Anders from a script by Anders, John Morris, Goldstein, and Daley, saw the return of most of the original stars and the addition of Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz. But this film, released around Thanksgiving 2014, didn't perform as well at the box office, grossing nearly $108 million worldwide on a $42 million budget.

Speaking on Marc Maron's WTF Podcast in 2015, Bateman said it was "garbage, when it comes to box office" and suggested a sequence might not have been necessary, although he said he loves both films.

"A lot of people saw the first one, but there are a lot of movies that have made a lot of money where no one is interested in seeing another one," Bateman said. "People just weren't interested in seeing another one. 'We saw the first one, we had fun, and we don't have to see a second one.'"
