Juan Lacaze's body found: fraud investigation and arrest of family members
The Colonia Police are investigating a case that has shocked Juan Lacaze. The body of a man, in an advanced state of decomposition, was found in a home in the Charrúa neighborhood. Initial investigations indicated that he died of natural causes in July.
The operation was carried out following a search warrant issued by the Prosecutor's Office, after family members prevented officers from entering. The house, located on Guyunusa Street between Zapicán and Abayubá, belonged to the deceased's 76-year-old widow and her son, who lived with the body for weeks without reporting the death.
According to police sources, the main hypothesis is that the failure to file a complaint was a means of continuing to collect the man's pension . Both were arrested and placed at the disposal of the Rosario courts.
Cologne police and prosecutor's office are investigating the case.
The Police Chief confirmed that the discovery was made after detecting suspicious activity in the collection of the deceased's assets. The investigation is being led by the Investigations Unit and the Forensic Police, who are working to reconstruct the chronology of events.
Natural death and possible pension fraud
Initial forensic examinations indicate there were no signs of violence and that the death was natural. However, the fact that the body remained in the home and the continued collection of pension benefits opens a line of investigation for alleged pension fraud.
Complainant neighbors and background
Police sources indicated that the deceased's son had already been reported several times for causing disturbances in the neighborhood. Some neighbors were instrumental in alerting authorities to the situation.
