MADRID, 19 (EUROPA PRESS)

Belgian midfielder Leander Dendoncker will play for Real Oviedo for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2027, after the Asturian club and Aston Villa reached an agreement for his transfer on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old from Passendale arrives in the capital of the Principality of Asturias after spending last season on loan at Belgian club RSC Anderlecht. This Tuesday, he trained under Veljko Paunovic at the El Requexón sports facilities alongside fellow Barça signing Eric Bailly.

Dendoncker took his first steps in professional football with Anderlecht (2014-18), and after five seasons in his home league, he signed for Wolverhampton, where he made 159 appearances. In 2022, he joined Aston Villa, although his lack of consistency led to two consecutive loan spells, to Napoli and Anderlecht.

Dendoncker made his debut for Belgium on June 7, 2015, in a friendly against France, and in 2018, then-Belgian national team coach Roberto Martínez included him in the 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia.
