At least 20 people, including four journalists, have been killed in a double bombing attack on Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, considered the main medical center in the southern Gaza Strip, according to preliminary casualty figures released by local authorities.
The Hamas-linked Gazan Ministry of Health reported that the first attack hit the fourth floor of the complex. Later, coinciding with the arrival of ambulances, the second attack was reportedly recorded.
Dozens of people have been injured , according to the Ministry, which includes medical workers and journalists among the victims. Specifically, at least four journalists linked to international media outlets such as Reuters and AP, and the Al Jazeera network, were reportedly killed.
The Gaza government has urged the international community to contribute to "immediate and urgent" measures to ensure healthcare and humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip. In this regard, it has warned that "silence" and "the lack of real measures" to stop Israeli abuses amount to "collaboration."
Some 62,700 Palestinians have died in the Strip as a result of the military offensive launched by Israel in October 2023. Benjamin Netanyahu's government has agreed to intensify these operations to, among other objectives, seize control of Gaza City.
