Assault in Salto: Four robberies with the same method and police search

Four robberies were reported in the eastern part of Salto on Friday night, within a span of minutes and in nearby areas. Local police are investigating and are considering the hypothesis that the incidents were committed by the same duo, riding a "skinny" scooter and carrying a weapon. No shots were fired or anyone injured, but the affected merchants reported cash losses.

The first call came around 8:20 p.m.: a 40-year-old woman reported that an armed man had entered her business on Magallanes Avenue and Oficial 2° and stolen 2,000 Uruguayan pesos from the takings. According to the description, an accomplice was waiting for him on a motorcycle, and the two fled without being located by the patrol. Ten minutes later, there was a second report on the same block: a store had 5,000 pesos stolen by an assailant wearing a light-colored sweatshirt and brandishing a .22-caliber weapon.

Just ten minutes later, at the intersection of Instrucciones del Año XIII and Monterroso, in the Artigas neighborhood, a 49-year-old man described a similar scene: two men on a scooter demanded the cash register and stole 20,000 pesos. Almost simultaneously, at Avenida Concordia and Enrique Amorim, a 41-year-old woman stated that she was threatened with a gun and robbed of between 7,000 and 8,000 pesos, after which the criminals fled on the same scooter.

The Salto Police Headquarters reported that the investigation is ongoing: camera relays, testimony, and patrols in the affected areas are part of the investigation. Investigators are trying to reconstruct the sequence of movements to locate the suspects and the motorcycle used. Authorities are asking the community to provide information if they saw people or a "pollerita" traveling at high speed in those areas.

Businesses and residents demanded increased police presence and preventive measures to prevent further incidents. The municipality announced that additional patrols and inspections of public and private cameras are being coordinated. Meanwhile, the police force advises preserving evidence and not confronting suspects, and reminds residents to call 911 to report any useful information about these incidents.
