MADRID, 20 (EUROPA PRESS)
Atlético de Madrid's Spanish attacking midfielder Álex Baena suffered a "low-grade muscle injury" during Diego Pablo Simeone's training session on Wednesday, meaning he will miss the club's league opener at home to Elche, according to the club's medical team.
Álex Baena was unable to complete Wednesday's training session after experiencing "some muscle discomfort." The Spanish international underwent tests, and the club's medical team's report indicates he is suffering from "a low-grade muscle injury."
"The Rojiblanco number 10 will undergo physiotherapy sessions and rehabilitation work in the gym, and the progress of his injury will determine his return to competition," the club's statement said.
Thus, the Almería-born midfielder will miss the Colchoneros' debut at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano next Saturday against Elche, on Matchday 2 of the EA Sports LaLiga. Baena made his competitive debut for Atlético de Madrid last Sunday in the Rojiblancos' defeat to RCD Espanyol, a match in which he started and played 68 minutes.
