Dairy farmer Alejandro Rodríguez, from the CNFR (National Commission for the Promotion of Agriculture) and with experience at INIA (National Institute of Agriculture) and the Agricultural Plan (Plan Agropecuario), will be proposed as president of the Colonization Institute. His appointment requires parliamentary approval, according to Uruguay al Día.

Uruguay al Día has learned that Alejandro Rodríguez will be proposed as president of the Colonization Institute, pending parliamentary approval.

According to information provided to Uruguay al Día , dairy farmer Alejandro Henry Rodríguez , a representative of the National Commission for Rural Development (CNFR) , will be officially proposed as president of the National Colonization Institute . His appointment must be approved by Parliament between Monday and Thursday of next week .

Until that happens, Viera continues to hold the position of head of the organization, despite his irregular , in accordance with Article 200 of the Constitution .

Rodríguez has a long and recognized career in rural areas. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) and has always been involved in grassroots work in the field.

In an interview published by INIA Magazine in 2019, he recounted that he started working with his brother at age 18 on a small piece of land that belonged to his grandfather. At age 25 , already settled on a rented field in the department of Lavalleja , he started his own dairy farm , which eventually became his property.

In addition to his experience as a producer, he is an agricultural engineer . From a young age, he has also dedicated himself to transferring technology to other producers , primarily in the dairy sector and intensive agricultural and livestock production systems. For several years, he provided technical advice to rural groups in his area.

In 1990, she joined the Agricultural Plan , and for a period of five years, she focused on supporting innovation processes, especially in crop conversion programs such as sugar beet. Her focus has always been on teamwork and the exchange of experiences among producers.

With this technical background, commitment to rural development, and extensive experience in the field, Rodríguez is preparing to take over the leadership of a key agency in land redistribution and strengthening rural Uruguay .
