MADRID, 19 (EUROPA PRESS)

At least 60 people were killed in a traffic accident that occurred Tuesday near the Afghan town of Guzara, in Herat province, northwestern Afghanistan, involving a bus carrying Afghan refugees deported from Iran and a truck.

Local sources consulted by the Afghan television network Amu TV reported that a bus collided with a motorcycle and a cargo truck, causing a fire. According to initial reports, only three of the bus passengers survived, while two other people on the truck died.

The day before, Iranian authorities reported that 1.2 million Afghans have been deported over the past six months, while another 800,000 are expected to be expelled in the coming months, before March 2026. The IOM estimates that some 250,000 Afghans were deported in June alone, but the Taliban commission has raised this figure to 600,000, accelerated by the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.
