MADRID, 19 (EUROPA PRESS)

A Palestinian journalist was killed Monday in an Israeli military attack on the Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza City, which left at least one other person dead and several others injured.

The Palestinian television channel PalToday has confirmed on its social media account X that the deceased is Islam al-Komi, who the day before made an "urgent" appeal on his Facebook account asking for help.

"I beg you by God and ask for your compassion and a humane and paternal gesture to provide assistance to me and my family," the letter reads, denouncing "the difficult situation of life in Gaza, the harsh conditions and the basic needs that I cannot cover."

Just over a week ago, Israel killed six more journalists, including renowned reporter Anas al-Sharif—a Pulitzer Prize winner in 2024 for his coverage of the Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip—and four other colleagues from the Qatari television network Al Jazeera, in a bombing of a media outlet in the same town, where a new and "imminent" Israeli army occupation is planned.

Gazan authorities, under the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), estimate at least 237 media professionals have been killed in Israeli attacks since the start of its military offensive in October 2023, a figure the United Nations puts at more than 242.
