Security operation in Argentina following threats at Ezeiza Airport and in Buenos Aires.

Moments of high tension erupted Wednesday night at Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Ezeiza, Buenos Aires province, Argentina, after an emergency protocol was activated due to a bomb threat.

The incident occurred on Aerolíneas Argentinas flight AR1411, which had arrived from Mendoza. It all began with a phone call reporting the presence of an explosive device on board the aircraft. As a result, a special operation coordinated by the Airport Security Police (PSA) was launched.

The plane was immediately isolated, and the area was secured while the appropriate inspections were conducted. According to authorities, all established steps for such situations were followed, and although no device was found, the airport operated with restrictions for several hours.

During the procedure, several flights scheduled for that time had to be diverted, while others remained on hold until they received clearance to land. The situation directly affected hundreds of passengers in transit, right in the middle of the winter holiday season.

After 10 p.m., the investigation was taken over by the Anti-Terrorism Investigation Unit, part of the Federal Investigations Superintendency. Shortly afterward, the airport resumed normal operations, although the effects of the operation were still being felt in the terminal.

Sources from the Transportation Department confirmed to Uruguay al Día that both the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) and the Argentine Air Navigation Company (EANA) will file criminal complaints to investigate the origin of the call.

A source close to the ministry said: "This comes after several unsuccessful attempts by airline unions to strike during the winter break. It is not ruled out that some sectors may seek to disrupt normal operations."

So far, no arrests have been made. The case remains open, and the main objective is to identify the person who made the threat and determine whether there was any political, union, or personal motivation behind it.

EXPLOSION IN LAW FIRM – CABA

In parallel to the incident at Ezeiza, another incident raised concerns in Buenos Aires. Argentine Justice Minister Mariano Cúneo Libarona publicly denounced that someone had placed an explosive device in the reception area of the law firm where his brother, Matías Cúneo Libarona, works.

The bomb attack on the Cúneo Libarona family's office left no injuries, according to the Minister of Justice.

According to the minister's testimony, everything happened during regular business hours. After the explosion, building staff activated the corresponding protocol and immediately notified the authorities. The intervention of security forces prevented further consequences.

Cúneo Libarona clarified that this was not a political attack, but rather an act carried out by someone showing signs of mental illness. "It was a person clearly in a critical psychiatric situation, with no ideological motivation," he said.

Initial investigations indicate that the device was capable of causing injuries, although the explosion caused no physical damage. This was an isolated incident, with no links to known organizations and no history of previous threats.

The minister publicly thanked the security forces for their swift action and emphasized that they will continue to collaborate with the investigation to clarify the case.

ARTICLE CLOSURE

Both incidents, which occurred in Argentina within hours of each other, raised alarms at a time when the country is experiencing a peak in tourist travel. While the investigation into the threat at Ezeiza continues, authorities are assessing whether these events are connected or independent. For now, the priority is to preserve the safety of the population and maintain the normal operation of essential services.
